Bible Clip 0.2 Installation / Start up Problem

It seems that there is a problem when trying to start Screen Monkey after Bible Clip 0.2 is installed. I am using Screen Monkey 3.7 beta 21 and when I install the Bible Clip 0.2 Screen Monkey will start but not completely load the clip window within the main window. I am attaching the log file for the error. If I remove the Bible Clip then Screen Monkey starts just fine. I did all of this before trying to change out the new .dll file that you directed me to in our other discussion. Anything you want me to try that may help you?

To date, I have only been linking Screen Monkey to a stock 3.6 installation - mainly because I do not have access to the beta versions of Screen Monkey to test them. The Bible Clip uses Text Display Styles (as does the Song Clip) as part of the formatting for how text is displayed on the screen. It looks like the code for that has been changed somewhere between 3.6 to 3.7 beta 21. My code was expecting the version for 3.6, not the version you are using.

I would like you to troubleshoot by doing the following few things (to confirm this is the issue):
  1. Completely remove the Bible Clip 0.2 & ScreenMonkey 3.7 beta (in that order)
  2. Install Screen Monkey 3.6.
  3. Start Screen Monkey 3.6. Make sure the set that loads is empty (no clips are loaded). Then close SM.
  4. Install Bible Clip 0.2.
  5. Start SM 3.6 and see if the clip is generally working (can load translations, and display verses).
If it is able to, then the issue is what I am suspecting from your error log. If that's the issue, then I need to find out from owaits what has changed, and get access to 3.7 to link to the latest versions of the Screen Monkey libraries to make it work with 3.7.

I will try to take time to work my way through this list this weekend. A quick test would be to try it on my Window Vista machine. I think it still has SM 3.6.

OK, it took me forever but I finally tested the clip. I have been out of my home country and busy building a server.

Test results:
  1. Completely removed the Bible clip.
  2. Insured that I had Screen Monkey 3.6 installed and working properly.
  3. Installed Bible Clip 0.2 (Installation successful)
  4. Loaded a Bible (Successful)
  5. Displayed Verses (Successful)
  6. I did not try packaging a show with a Bible clip.
There must be something in the 3.7 versions that are conflicting with the Bible Clip as it is.

Now that Screen Monkey 3.7 has been released unfortunately bible clip 0.2 still will not load. I am hoping someone will recode it to make it work with 3.7. Bible clip is the best and most useful plugin I have found anywhere. I was able to add several bible versions to SM using it. If it is not updated I will have no choice but to return to SM 3.6. Does anyone know if anyone is working on this issue?

I haven't had the chance to work with Screen Monkey 3.7 yet, and never had the chance to work with the beta versions, so I was unable make the Bible Clip work before 3.7 released. However, now that it is released, I can try to work on getting it working with 3.7.

Development has been slow, at least on my part, for the last few months. My time commitments have kept me from working on it, but now some more time has freed up, so hopefully I will be able to work on it this week yet and get it up and running.

Thanks for the interest, and keep up with this issue. I will post updates as I get things working for 3.7.

So glad to hear that you are working on getting bible clip to function with 3.7. I know there are many others who feel the same way and appreciate your efforts in this project. Hats off and thanks to you!!!

Revision 94380 has updated code to address this issue. Believed to be fixed, but needs further testing. My very initial tests (create 1 Bible Clip, change Display Settings, close and reopen Screen Monkey 3.7) work properly with this code. I'm going to create a release with this fix for everyone to download and test.

The new bible clip .03 seems to be working well with Screen Monkey 3.7 in 64 bit win 7 with one exception. When an image is chosen as a background in Display Options it only loads a red X and will not display an image. The error logs say "The method or operation is not implemented" It will however load a color or transparent Background.

Just added commit to code today to address the image issue. Hopefully it will work for everyone.

Note: For any programmers out there, the specific section to work with is: BibleDisplayStyle.cs, look for BackgroundImageCached. This is around line 127 in the file. Ideally I would like to get the image to stretch properly in the display style editor but haven't figured that out yet.
