If you are new to developing Screen Monkey Plugins, here's what you need to know to get started.

First, you need to apply to become a developer on the project. Once approved, then you will have the access needed to get started.

The rest of these steps assume you are on Windows.

Install TortoiseSVN. It's freely available at http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html.

Once it's installed and you have restarted your computer, make a new folder for the project on your computer.

Then, right click on that folder and select SVN Checkout. That will open a window for you to fill information out in.

The window first asks for the URL. Make sure it says: https://screenmonkey.svn.codeplex.com/svn/ Then it asks where to place the files. This should be already filled in with the path to the folder you just made. Then make sure the checkout depth is "Fully Recursive" and revision is "HEAD revision". Then click OK. The files for the project will download into the folder you made.

From there, you have the project files to get started developing.

When coming back to work on the code another day, make sure you right click on the main folder and click SVN update. This makes sure you have the latest version of the code on your system.

When you have made changes and you wish to submit them back to the repository so everyone can access them, do the following:

1. Run a quick test on the plugins you have changed to make sure they don't immediately crash Screen Monkey when used.

2. Right click the main folder that contains everything for the project and click on SVN commit. Then you will be asked to make a note concerning what you changed - enter an appropriate note and click OK. Then it will ask you for your login information for Codeplex. Enter that login information, and your changes will be uploaded.

If you have questions, let us know.
